Getting to The Mermaid Theatre

The Mermaid Theatre is located in Puddle Dock, Blackfriars, London EC4V 3DB. Ideally situated between the City and the West End on the north bank of the River Thames, it enjoys spectacular views towards the Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and the Millennium Bridge. For a map click here >>

Transport links are excellent, but due to the redevelopment of Blackfriars underground station the nearest tube stop is Mansion House on the District/Circle line which is a 8 - 10 minute walk away. Alternatively Temple, also on the District/Circle line is 8 - 10 minutes away by foot, while St Paul’s on the Central line is a similar distance.

By foot from Mansion House tube station:

  • Start out along QUEEN VICTORIA STREET, heading west.
  • You’ll pass BREMER LANDESBANK BANK, pass ROYAL BANK OF CANADA, pass COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIA and then pass GOOSE AT THE CASTLE BAR OR PUB.
  • After 1/2 kilometre turn left onto PUDDLE DOCK at MELLON GLOBAL SECURITIES, heading south.
  • You will reach your destination 49 metres along PUDDLE DOCK.

 

By foot from Temple tube station:

  • Start out along TEMPLE PLACE, heading south.
  • After 6 metres turn left onto VICTORIA EMBANKMENT, heading east.
  • You’ll eventually pass TAYLOR WESSING .
  • After 3/4 kilometre bear left onto NEW BRIDGE STREET, heading north.
  • After 52 metres continue onto QUEEN VICTORIA STREET, heading north.
  • You’ll soon pass BLACKFRIAR BAR OR PUB.
  • After 150 metres turn right onto PUDDLE DOCK, heading south.
  • You will reach your destination 49 metres along PUDDLE DOCK.

 

By foot from St Paul's tube station:

  • Start out along CHEAPSIDE, heading north.
  • After 22 metres turn left onto ALDERSGATE STREET, heading south.
  • After 60 metres turn left onto CHEAPSIDE, heading south.
  • After 19 metres bear right onto CATHEDRAL PLACE, heading south.
  • After 50 metres turn right onto PATERNOSTER ROW, heading west.
  • After 65 metres continue straight onto PATERNOSTER SQUARE, heading west.
  • After 63 metres turn left onto TEMPLE BAR GATE, heading south.
  • After 26 metres bear right onto ST PAUL'S CHURCHYARD, heading west.
  • After 100 metres bear right onto LUDGATE HILL, heading west.
  • After 35 metres turn left onto CREED LANE, heading south.
  • After 100 metres continue straight onto BURGON STREET, heading south.
  • After 56 metres turn left onto IRELAND YARD, heading east.
  • After 8 metres turn right onto ST ANDREWS HILL, heading south.
  • After 64 metres turn right onto QUEEN VICTORIA STREET, heading west.
  • After 29 metres turn left onto PUDDLE DOCK, heading south.
  • You will reach your destination 49 metres along PUDDLE DOCK.

 

Blackfriars Station

Although Blackfriars tube station is closed until 2011, the mainline station at Blackfriars, which is served by services between St Pancras International and London Bridge, is open weekdays until the early evening.
